Scale-up businesses in the North East are experiencing a key barrier to growth around attracting and developing talent, skills and leadership. This is a UK-wide concern and remains one of the major issues for the leaders of fast-growing businesses.
During rapid periods of growth, businesses may look to build out their leadership capacity, meaning high performing individuals are promoted to lead a team of people without having any dedicated training. This lack of training can be risky at such an important time for a growing business.
To tackle this challenge, Duo Global Consulting is delivering a Future Leaders programme commencing in January 2020 for those who have been recently promoted into a management role, or have the potential to progress to this stage in the future.
Sarah Callender, commercial director at Duo Global Consulting said: “We see a huge opportunity for developing future leaders, especially in growing businesses where high performing people are often promoted to management roles without any core leadership skills or experience under their belt.
“The Future Leaders programme is designed to give people new ideas, skills and confidence to drive performance in their elevated role, and leave with a practical toolkit of resources to implement into the business they work for, adding more value to the company and cascading the associated benefits across the organisation.”
The workshops will run for six months between January and June 2020 and will be held on one full day each month including a blend of 1-2-1 delivery, breakout sessions, peer round table discussions, group coaching and online support.
Sarah added: “This opportunity will provide businesses with the ability to build a qualified pipeline of future leaders, decreasing the risk of promoting inexperienced managers or leaders in the future and it will also increase the success of promoted managers so that they can maximise impact from the outset.”
The learning experience will be delivered at Crowne Plaza in central Newcastle and each attendee will be within an individually selected peer group of up to 12 other future business leaders, ensuring that they have the most impactful experience.
The programme will provide a fundamental management toolkit that transforms future leaders from individual contributors to high performing managers, enabling them to get the best from their teams or departments.
